Spotlight on Success: Debbie Curcio

I have had the honor and pleasure of helping hundreds of men, women, and teens in my practice with many different health issues.

Some clients continue in some way with me, and some go on with their lives, hopefully using the tools we worked on together. Sometimes, surprises happen. A few weeks ago, I received an email from my client, Debbie Curcio, a 55-year-old hairdresser, who took a class of mine for one month in 2014. Her progress is so astounding, I just have to share it.

Q: You began with my 28-Day Cleanse & Detox program. How did you learn about it? A: My friend Sharon decided that she was going to take the class right after the summer. I decided to join her. We began on September 18, 2014.

Q: The detox program is a big commitment. What was your motivation? A: My bloodwork results had shown I was a pre-diabetic, I was overweight and had just came back from taking my daughter to college and was feeling terrible about myself. I finally felt ready to make a change.

Q: What struggles have you had in the past with weight and with your health? A: In my life, there’s always food, everywhere, all the time. I used to eat candy, diet soda, chips, crackers, and other junk mindlessly all through the day. I was always picking, eating something. And I was always cooking for everyone, for every holiday, for every reason. I didn’t know how I could still cook for my friends and family and get back my health and figure until I went through your program.

Q: Once you began the program, how did you feel? A: I had some slight headaches the first week from the lack of sugar and caffeine, but by week two, they were gone. The real motivation was seeing the pounds coming off. Week after week, the scale was going lower and lower.

Q: What did you do about cooking for others while you were doing the detox? A: I still did the cooking, but kept everything very clean for my family as well. When there were snacks and treats in the house, I stayed away—even during the holidays. Sometimes I even made their favorite meals like pizza, lasagna, pasta, and desserts, but simply didn’t have any. The scale kept me going. I was so motivated!

Q: How did you feel once you finished the program? A: I had so much energy I could barely make myself sit down all day! I was able to manage my stressful days better, my sleep apnea went away, I had no more seasonal allergies, no more stomachaches—I was amazed. I don’t even want all the junk I was eating before! That is what is so fantastic.

Q: It’s been over a year since you began the 28-Day Cleanse & Detox. What do you do now to keep your focus on health and weight loss? A: I weigh myself once a day. It helps keep me on track. I have kept salt, dairy, gluten, and sugar out of my diet. I do not miss them at all. I give myself a small treat every couple of days so I don’t feel deprived.

Q: What are your treats? A: I have a couple handfuls of popcorn sometimes and a glass of wine every now and then. That’s really it. I feel great not craving or even wanting all the other junk I used to eat.

Q: How much weight have you lost so far? A: As of December 2015, I am down 82 pounds! I went from a size 14 to a size 4. I am not on a diet, it is my LIFESTYLE! Thank you again, Loryn. You are my saving grace.
